Liv Golf, the professional male golf tour backed by Saudi Arabia, wants the game to look more like formula 1 races with wealthy fans and a wide range of auxiliary entertainment.

“Golf is who we are, but it really is the festival around the golf that makes us different,” said Liv Golf CEO, Scott O’Neil, during a talk by the fire in Converge Live. “You can bring your family, you can bring an appointment, you can bring friends,” he added.

In a recent event in Miami, Liv held a music festival, an art festival and a food festival to ensure that there was something for everyone, he said. The company’s inaugural event in Singapore, which begins on Friday, will have a DJ.

O’Neil said that F1 is the only truly global sports league, and compared walking along the driving field before an event begins to the hospitality experience around a F1 well.

LIV, who organized his first competition in 2022, competes with the PGA Tour established for a long time as the main organizer of professional golf events.

According to O’Neil, 30% of LIV tournaments attendees had never been in a golf event before, and the average age is 15 years younger than competition events. “So, in terms of reaching a new audience, presenting more people to the game, I think we are a very interesting study, well.”
