‘For holding a Wombat, Miles threatened my life’

An American influence that was filmed that took a wild baby wombat from his anguished mother in Australia has said that “truly regrets it” and received thousands of death threats for the incident.

Sam Jones, who calls herself an “enthusiastic and outdoor hunter”, was filmed by picking the Joey next to a road, as he laughs and ran to a car, while the mother pursues them.

He prepared a massive reaction, with Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese challenging her to “take a crocodile baby from her mother and see how you are going there.”

She says, as can be seen in the video, that the mother leaves the road, but the baby does not, and Jones picks it up. She says she ran along the road “not to start the Joey away from her mother, but for fear of attacking me.”

“The rapid trial I did at the moment was never a place of damage or theft of a Joey,” says the statement.
