Former representative Nita Lowey, DN.Y., died at age 87, according to her family.
Lowey, who represented New York in the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF USA. UU. For 32 years and was the first woman to preside over the Chamber Assignments Committee, she died on Saturday after a long battle against metastatic breast cancer, according to a New York Post report.
“Nita’s family was fundamental for her life, since it was for all of us,” said the legislator’s family for a long time in a statement. “We will miss her more than words can say and it is comforted by knowing that she lived a full and determined life.”

He New York Legislator Nita Sue Menikoff was born at Bronx in 1937, then graduated from the Bronx High School of Sciences before receiving a title of Mount Holyake College in 1959, the post report said.
He married lawyer Stephen Lowey in 1961, and was first chosen to Congress in 1988 to represent the 17th District of the New York Congress.
A lifetime ally of former president of Casa Nancy Pelosi And the Clinton family, Lowey, became president of the Chamber Assignments Committee in 2019. Frequently faced President Donald Trump during his first mandate in his time as president, telling Lohud in 2019 that the president was a “shame.”

“The president is a shame and as a member of Congress and, as leader of the Assignments Committee, we have the responsibility of serving people,” he said at that time.
Lowey announced his retirement that same year, with the Democratic leader of the House of Representatives, Hakeem Jeffries, Dn.y., told the New York Post that the legislator for a long time was a “public servant of principles, passionate and powerful.”

“In the course of her historical career, Congresswoman Lowey, courageous, bravely served her voters and defended the New Yorkers as she broke multiple glass roofs along the way,” Jeffries said on Sunday, adding that Lowey was a “mentor and friend.”
Lowey is survived by her husband, three children and eight grandchildren.
