A dispute against a transgender competitor that resulted in LOSS AND SANCTIONS He did not prevent Columbia Bible College (CBC) from being all year this year.
CBC won the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association National Women’s Basketball Championship on Saturday night, surpassing the University of St. Mary’s 77-70 to win the title for the first time in the history of the program.
For CBC, Elissa Vreugdenhil won the MVP of the CCAA Championship Tournament, presenting 19 points with 12 rebounds in victory. Grace Park scored 20 points with six rebounds and four assists to claim the honors of the game player, while Madeline Beerwald scored 20 points with eight rebounds.

Victoria is not only the first national championship in the history of CBC, but also marked a dramatic change of only two years ago, since the program suffered a lugger streak of 54 games from 2018 to 2023. The program had not even won a playoff game of the conference before this season.
But the team also achieved all this in the shadow of accusations related to the treatment of a trans athlete. Chief coach Taylor Clegret was suspended and the team lost the right to organize the conference tournament after the accusations of abuse against a trans athlete at the University of Vancouver Island (VIU) in October.
The dispute began during an October 25 game between the two teams, which Viu won 69-56 after the player Trans Harriette Mackenzie scored 19 points in the game. Five days after that game, the Trans athlete published an Instagram video claiming that Clagget “cornered one of our Atlético staff and was a diatribe about how I would not be allowed to play.”
It was also alleged that Mackenzie was deliberately committed to the ground by a CBC player. In response, Claggett published his own statement on Instagram, claiming that Mackenzie’s statements were inaccurate.
How the transgender in sports changed the 2024 elections and lit a national counterculture
“My intention has nothing to do with a specific athlete, but instead, the safety of female athletes in their sport,” Catgett wrote.
Viu then filed a formal complaint to Pacwest, which caused an investigation. When the two teams were scheduled to play again on January 10 and 11, Viu refused.
“Intimidation, harassment and discrimination do not take place in athletics,” Viu said in a statement to Fox News Digital in January about the decision not to play. “VIU supports our students athletes and affirms the right of all athletes to compete in an environment that prioritizes their safety and well -being.”
Viu requested that the two losses do not count as losses in the team record, which was granted by the Pacwest.
CBC provided a statement to Fox News Digital that weekend indicating “accusations that CBC, their coaches, players and fans are a threat of security are simply false and poorly informed.”
Days later, CBC players condemned Mackenzie, in a letter obtained by Fox News Digital.
CBC players blamed Mackenzie for “personal attacks”, “defamatory comments” and even “comments that incite violence” against their coach.
“The videos and letters published by members of the Viu female basketball team in the last three months have directly violated multiple rules established in article 17.2 of the Manual. Several publications have included ‘personal attacks’ ‘,’ defamatory comments ‘, lack of respect for the Pacwest’ and led to ‘comments that incite violence and/or hate’ aimed at our coach”, the letter declared.
“Each and every one of the accusations made by Viu players regarding our team and coach should have been directly communicated to Pacwest Solo officials, they should not have been publicly uploaded to social networks.”
The Pacwest finally put on the side of Viu and Mackenzie. He suspended Catgett in early February, and CBC lost the right to organize the Pacwest championship.

CBC managed to fight all the way to get to the game of the title of Pacwest, which turned out to be against Viu and Mackenzie, on March 1. Mackenzie scored 21 points in that game to take VIU to a 69-59 victory, and then MVP was awarded from the conference tournament at a ceremony after the game.
But the hopes of the Viu National Championship faded rapidly, after a defeat against Mohawk College in the first round on Wednesday. Mackenzie’s Instagram account, the platform that initially shared the accusations against Catgett and CBC, was eliminated that same day.
Meanwhile, CBC has now made a race to a historic championship, despite the frequent distractions this season.
