Mookie Betts Will miss the Los Angeles Dodgers‘Tokyo series against the Chicago puppies Due to a disease. The manager of the Dodgers, Dave Roberts, announced the decision on Sunday night.
Roberts said Betts is beginning to feel better, but has lost almost 15 pounds and is still trying to rehydrate and gain strength. Roberts added that the eight times All-Star could fly back to the United States before the team in an effort to rest and prepare for the first internal game on March 27.
Puppies and Dodgers open the major league baseball season on Tuesday at Tokyo Dome. A second game is Wednesday.
“He won’t play in these two games,” Roberts said. “When you are dehydrated, that is what opens a person to soft tissue injuries. We are very aware of that.”
Roberts said Miguel Rojas It will begin in the campocorto in the place of Betts for the two games in the Tokyo Dome.
Betts did a light training on Sunday, but quickly tired. He began to suffer from flu -like symptoms in Arizona, the day before the team went to Japan. He still made the long journey by plane, but he has not recovered as fast as expected.
Betts is doing the full -time transition to the campocorto this season after playing most of his career in the right garden and the second base. The MVP of 2018 hit .289 with 19 home runs and 75 ranges promoted last season, helping the Dodgers win the World Series.
