Long before I was governor of Arkansas or press secretary of the White House, I came to Washington as a brilliant university graduate for my first real job in the Department of Education. I thought I was there to change the world and found myself spending more time changing coffee filters.

But I left with a crystalline lesson: it is time to abolish the Department of Federal Education.

I am a mother of three children, so I know that there are no two children, not even in the same family, they learn in the same way. It is ridiculous, then, assuming that each child in each community in the United States would have the same educational needs or objectives. But that is exactly the way in which the Department of Education works.

Eliminating the department would allow federal dollars to flow freely to our communities, without forcing states to jump through rings to obtain it.

President Donald Trump sees that clearly and, in his effort to control spending and drain the swamp, he has focused on the Department of Education as an excellent example of federal overreach and waste. Republicans have promised to abolish it from President Ronald Reagan, but Trump finally has the mandate to do so.

Parents have woken up to inefficiency and lack of responsibility in our schools as well. The nation’s qualifications ballot shows that mathematics, science and reading scores are not better than 20 years ago, even when student spending has shot at record levels. Something has to change.

The answer is the power to return to states and communities. One of my first acts as governor was to approve the APRES Law, a radical review of the Arkansas education system that raised to pay teachers from $ 36,000 a year to $ 50,000 a year, which has 48º in the nation to the first five, deployed 120 literacy coaches to schools from all over the state, and provided the universal election of the school for each student in the state.

What works in California may not work in Arkansas, and what works for a family may not work for another. That is why we are focusing so much on the election: families, not bureaucrats or postal codes, must decide where their children go to school.

We are also taking out the indoctrination of our schools, just like Trump is uprooting Dei and the anti -American Wokeness from our federal agencies. At a time when our children face an educational crisis, we should focus on reading, writing and mathematics, not crazy nonsense.

When I assumed the position for the first time, I heard the story of a boy named Jack who fought with the learning disabilities and did not fit perfectly into the unique size model that Arkansas used to have. His parents hoped that his local school district would give Jack the resources he needed, but the opposite happened.

He was intimidated. He was academically. He escaped from school once, twice and then for the third time. One of Jack’s thugs told him to die in a ditch and that is where they found him: alone, soaked, sobbing in a ditch.

Eliminating the department would allow federal dollars to flow freely to our communities, without forcing states to jump through rings to obtain it.

Due to educational freedom accounts, their parents were able to put it in a specialized school, where they are now thriving. Choice gave Jack not only an opportunity to feel safe, but a path to a great future.

When it works properly, education can even put our children more fighters on a path to success. But the systems of a unique and unique size size will never meet the needs of each child.

It is time to abolish the Department of Education, return power to the United States and train all parents and students to obtain education they need and deserve.
