The warning occurs after the disappearance of March 6 of the student of the University of Pittsburgh Sudiksha Konanki in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

In the Caribbean, The country with the highest travel notice is Haiti with a level 4 travel warning, which means “not to travel”, followed by Jamaica at level 3, which means that US citizens should “reconsider trips.”

Several other Caribbean countries are under a level 2 warning, which means that Americans should exercise greater precautions. These countries include the Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos, Bahamas, Cuba and Antilles Netherlands.
Several Mexican states also have level 4 warnings due to a dangerous activity of posters and gangs, including Sinola, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas, Michoacan, Colima and Guerrero.
