Senator Bernie Sanders, I-VT., Commented on the announcement and said more schools must follow Harvard’s movement.

The expanded program would allow approximately 86% of families in the United States to qualify for the financial aid of Harvard College, the school announced, adding that it extended “their commitment to provide each undergraduate student admitted to the resources they need to register and graduate.”

“We know that the most talented students come from different socioeconomic origins and experiences, from all states and around the world,” said William R.
