Israel making ‘extensive strikes’ in Gaza’s strip

The Israeli army says it is carrying out “extensive strikes” in the strip of Gaza.

A spokesman for the Gaza Civil Defense Agency, directed by Hamas, the main emergency response service of the Strip, told the BBC that at least 34 Palestinians have been killed and another 70 injured.

Israel’s defense forces (FDI) said he was pointing to what he called “terrorist objectives” belonging to Hamas.

This is the greatest wave of air attacks in Gaza since the high fire began on January 19. Speak to extend the Gaza Coese Fire has He failed to reach an agreement.

Three houses were beaten at Deir Al-Balah in the center of Gaza, a building in the city of Gaza, and objectives in Khan Younis and Rafah, Reuters reported, citing doctors and witnesses.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered the strikes on Tuesday morning, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.

“This follows the repeated negative of Hamas to free our hostages, as well as their rejection of all the proposals he has received from the presidential envoy of the United States Steve Witkoff and the mediators,” he said.

“Israel will act, from now on, against Hamas with the growing military force,” he added.

The strike plan “was presented by the IDF during the weekend and approved by political leadership,” he said.

The administration of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, was consulted by Israel before carrying out the attacks, said a White House spokesman for Fox News.

Negotiators have been trying to find a path to follow after the first phase of the temporal truce ended on March 1.

The United States proposed to extend the first phase until mid -April, including an additional exchange of hosts in the hands of Palestinian Hamas and prisoners in the possession of Israel.

But a Palestinian official familiar with the conversations told the BBC that Israel and Hamas did not agree on key aspects of the agreement established by Witkoff in indirect conversations.

The last war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas killed more than 1,200 people in southern Israel, mostly civilians, with 251 hostages.

The assault triggered an Israeli military offensive that since then has killed more than 48,520 people, most of them civilians, according to figures of the Ministry of Health of Hamas, which are used by the UN and others.

Most of the population of 2.1 million Gaza has been displaced several times.

It is estimated that 70% of the buildings have been damaged or destroyed, health, water and sanitation systems have collapsed and there is a shortage of food, fuel, medicine and refuge.
