David Benavidez says “definitely” defeated the winner of the Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev Trilogy Match. Benavidez (30-0, 24 kos) is the mandatory WBC for the undisputed belt semi-marked weight champion Bivol (24-1, 12 kos).
Benavész’s promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, says that an offer was made for Benavidez to defend his interim semi -marked weight title against CMB against Callum Smith. Lewkowicz says he is not interested in that fight and just wants Benavidez to fight for the CMB belt against Bivol below. The WBC has ordered the fight with a deadline of April 8.
Lewkowicz and Benavidez will not take an interim fight to allow Bivol to cling artificially to his WBC so he can enter his trilogy match against Artur Beterbiev as the undisputed champion of semi -shed weight. Bivol must fight Benavidez or give up his CMB belt.
“At this time, the only thing that is (Benavidez) is to think that it is the WBC to be the regular formal champion,” Lewkowicz told Sean Zittel About ‘the Mexican monster’ that only wants to challenge the CMB belt below.
“Then, we will not take that particular fight (Callum Smith) through the intermediate, and we hope that April 8 will make a decision if he (Dmitry Bivol) wants to lose the title or take off. That is what Mauricio Sulaiman, president of the CMB. Provisional WBC to 168 and never had the opportunity to challenge Canelo. He was ignored.
The Bivol-Benavez fight has already been ordered by the Boxing Council World Cup. It is possible that Bivol should vacate his belt if he is going to happen with his plans to face Artur (21-1, 20 kos) below in a trilogy.
“That is the plan. We are already in the #1 place to fight the winner. So, we go there. We could get that fight in September,” David Benavidez said Bs with Jake Paul About him fighting the winner of the Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev Trilogy Match.
“That shit would be a drug,” Benavidez said about how exciting a fight between him and Beterbiev. “Most likely it will happen (fighting the winner of the Bivol-Beterbiev 3), and I am already standing mentally to try to prepare for that fight.
“We are going to have to go through hell to get out of the other side. Both are the upper step (by semi -marked weight). Both are Russians. I can definitely take those guys. I will hit them.”
