A federal judge Grilled Trump administration lawyers On Friday for its deportation of Venezuelan nationals to El Salvador despite a previous court order that explicitly blocks the measure, the last one in a legal dispute of days that could reach the Supreme Court.
During the Motion Hearing, the Judge of the United States District Court, James Boasberg, sharply questioned the deputy attorney general, Alférez drew on why the Trump administration It could not be fulfilled with an emergency court order that temporarily blocked its use of the law of 1798 alien enemies to Venezuelan national athlensIncluding the alleged members of the Trena de Aragua gang, from the American floor for 14 days.
At least 261 migrants were deported on Saturday from the United States to El Salvador, including more than 100 Venezuelan nationals who were subject to removal “only on the basis” of the law temporarily blocked by the Court.
Boasberg used the first part of Friday’s audience to press the Ensign to obtain details on the deportation flights of the Government to El Salvador.

“Why was this proclamation signed in the dark on Friday, the morning of Saturday, and then these people rushed to the planes?” Boasberg asked the lawyers of the Department of Justice. “For me, the only reason to do it is if you know the problem, and want to get them out of the country before a lawsuit is filed.”
Ensign was also pressed for what he knew about deportations during the judicial hearing last week, when Boasberg ordered the Trump administration to temporarily stopped any planned moving of Venezuelan migrants subject to the law of enemies alien Extray.
Boasberg had also issued a bank failure on Saturday that ordered the immediate return of any plane that deported Venezuelan nationals aimed at deportation under the alien enemies law.
“Can I ask you now how you played that statement when we had a conversation on Saturday?” He asked Eisen. “Didn’t you understand my statement during that audience?”
“You told me that you had no details about the plane’s flights, then we had a break for 38 minutes to find details,” Judge Ensign recalled. “And then, when you returned, and although the flights were in the air, did you represent that you had no details of the flights?”
“That is correct,” Reign replied, telling the judge that no one would give him the information he was looking for about deportation flights. “I didn’t know they were in the air,” he said.

Boasberg has ordered the Trump administration officials to explain before Tuesday why they did not fulfill their order that required deportation flights to return, and if they knew their ruling and landed in El Salvador.
Although the judge acknowledged that the Trump administration has “great freedom” to enforce the immigration law, has repeatedly expressed frustration with the government and its breach of answering important questions about flights.
He reiterated these concerns on Friday and raised new about the apparent challenge of the administration to federal judges.
“The hypothetics are terrifying,” Judge Boasberg told Eisen. “If the courts cannot review” the use of the administration of the Deportation Law of the Age of the War, he said: “Then the president could say that anyone is invading. If any foreign fisherman enters American waters, the president could say that it is an invasion,” Boasberg said.
“Even you would say it’s alarming,” he said.
“That depends on Congress,” Eisen replied.

In a court order filed on Thursday, Boasberg punished lawyers for the Department of Justice to Do not answer your questions On deportation flights, even after letting them do it under sealed, noting that the government “had again evaded their obligations.”
It is not clear if the Trump administration will invoke the privilege of state secrets in the judicial battle, which could allow them to retain certain information for national security purposes.
In a judicial statement filed on Friday morning, the United States attached attorney general, Todd Blanche, told Boasberg that he is aware of discussions at the level of the cabinet that invoke that privilege. They could present that argument at an appeal court hearing next week.
To invoke that privilege “is a serious issue that requires a careful consideration of national security and foreign relations, and cannot be taken properly in just 24 hours,” Blanche told the court on Friday.
