James van der Beek explained this week which is now in the “healing phase” of its cancer battle.
“I feel that I can see the finish line,” he said “Extra” After being revealed as the Griffin in “The Masked Singer” on Wednesday. “I am in a healing phase, which is great. I will return to work next month. I’m really taking this month to relax.”
The actor told “extra” that he appreciated being able to use the mask in the program.
“Especially with everything that was happening, and I just announced the health problems with which I was dealing, so I could put on the mask and connect with an audience without that being part of the equation was really a really beautiful thing,” he explained.

The “Dawson’s Creek” star revealed last November That he was receiving treatment for colorectal cancer, already beginning of this month, while turning 48, spoke about the “most difficult year” of his life.
“When I was younger, I used to define myself as an actor, who was never so satisfactory, and then I became a husband … It was much better and then became a father … That was the last thing,” he told his 1.6 million followers On Instagram on March 8.
Van der Beek shares six children with his wife, Kimberly: Olivia, 14; Joshua, 13; Annabel, 11; Emilia, 8; Gwendolyn, 6; and Jeremiah, 2.
“I feel that I can see the finish line. I am in a healing phase, which is great. I will return to work next month. I am really taking this month to relax.”
The six -year -old father said that during his cancer battle he was forced to “look at my own mortality in the eyes.”
“I had to come from the nose with death,” he said. “And all those definitions that mattered to me so much were stripped of me.”

“I was out to receive treatment, so I could no longer be a husband who was useful for my wife,” Van der Beek continued. “He could no longer be a father who could pick up his children and sleep them and be there for them. He couldn’t be a supplier because he wasn’t working.”

During his Cancer tripThe actor admitted that he began to wonder if he was “just a guy too careful and weak, only in an apartment with cancer … What am I?”
The “Warsity Blues” star said at that time that he relied on his faith.
“I am worthy of God’s love simply because they exist,” Van der Beek shared. “And if I am worthy of God’s love, shouldn’t it be worthy of my own?”

“As I move through this healing portal towards recovery,” said Van der Beek, “I wanted to share that with you because that revelation that occurred to me was largely for all the prayers and love that had been directed towards me.”
He continued saying: “I certainly do not pretend to know what God is or explain to God, my efforts to connect with God are a continuous process that is a constant mystery that develops for me.
“But, if it is a trigger that feels too religious, you can get the word God in your mind and it can simply be ‘I am worthy of love.’ Because you are.”
