The Sudanese army has recaptured the presidential palace in Jardum of the Rival Paramilitary Fast Support forces, military leaders said.
Video and photographs published on social networks and verified by the retirement soldiers of the BBC stirring their weapons, encouraging and kneeling to pray.
The Army seems to be ready to recover control of the capital two years after it was expelled by its paramilitary rivals, known as the RSF.
The paramilitary group has not yet commented.
Jartum is where the brutal civil war in the country began almost two years ago, and where some of its largest battles were fought.
The RSF has maintained most of the capital and western Sudan since the beginning of the war.
Claiming Jartum would be a great victory for the Sudanese armed forces and a crucial moment in the conflict. The army has also achieved profits in parts of the center of Sudan in recent weeks.
On Thursday, the witnesses reported explosions of attacks with unmanned aircraft and air attacks near the Republican Palace.
In a video recording on Saturday, the RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, promised to defend the presidential palace and the surrounding areas that are under the control of his paramilitary group.
He threatened more attacks in several cities in the north.
Several peace efforts have collapsed as rival forces promise to continue fighting to control strategic areas.
The war has caused the world’s largest humanitarian crisis, according to the UN, with the RSF and the army accused of generalized human rights abuses.
