George Kambosos Jr. (22-3, 10 kos) seemed physically torn around his face, gaining a unanimous decision harder than expected 12 round against his filling opponent, Jake Wyllie (16-2, 15 kos), on Saturday night in the main event in Quda Arena in Sydney, Australia.
Kambosos, 31, dominated the first half of the contest, but suffered a bad cut and fought the rest of the pressure path that Wyllie put, 24 years old.

Boxing News 24 had 9-3 in favor of Kambosos Jr., he did it very early, but he was falling apart from the rhythm that forced Wyllie much younger. It had nothing to do with the cut sustained by the little ’emperor’.
The former unified lightweight champion Kambosos Jr. made enough to obtain a decisive victory, but was far from the performance he needed to make a participation that he deserves an opportunity for the world title against the Welter weight champion of the IBF Richardson Hitchins in June.
Deserved or not, Kambosos will receive the opportunity of the title against Hitchins, but it will be a unilateral issue in favor of New York. Even the promoter Eddie Hearn later recognized that Kambosos would not defeat Hitchins the way he looked tonight.
“I thought he looked great during the first five or six rounds, but then he fell his head and unearthed a little. Wyllie became strong,” said Eddie Hearn CightHipoSpeaking about the victory of George Kambosos Jr about Jake Wyllie tonight in Sydney.
“For me, it can be competitive against Hitchins. But after a performance like that against Hitchins, he will not beat him. Hitchins is an elite fighter. Jake Wyllie is a great tremendous perspective. It will be interesting to see how it comes, but for me, Hitchins against Kambosos is a tremendous fight.”
So there it is. Hearn is making it clear that he does not see Kambeos win against Hitchins, but fans saw how George was average tonight. He is not defeating Hitchins or any of the 15 best contenders in the 140 lb classification that look like this. You could choose a contender from the bottom of the classification, and Kambosos would not win.
“Sh **-Chins will not fight anywhere as hard as he (Jake Wyllie). Hitchins, come on! I want to fight with head to head. I know that Hitchins is a type of touch and he will try to hit and run. I am a warrior,” Kambosos JR said, calling the IBF IBF Richards Soldier Champion later.
