Bob Davis, the lifelong voice of Kansas Jayhawks Basketball and football died, his family confirmed Friday through the KU Athletics Department. I was 80 years old.
Davis died only one week after the death of his pretty wife of more than five decades. A cause of death was not immediately released. Kansas basketball Chief coach Bill Self remembered Davis as a “selfless person.”
“Bob was not only superior in his trade, but he was also an excellent, humble and selfless person who gave himself much to many,” Self said. “Our hearts are with the whole family, especially with their wonderful wife Linda that spends last week.”

The Jayhawks of Self-Self-Sembrado de Self were upset this week by Arkansas in the NCAA Tournament. The famous Davis transmission possession in Kansas began in 1984 and lasted until his retirement in 2016. He added his voice to some of the best sports moments in the school.

There was the 1988 national championship team known as “Danny and the Milacles” for its star, Danny Manning, who was led by the coach of the Fame Hall Larry Brown. And the national title team 20 years later, led by Self, which became known by the “Milagro de Mario”. The triple triple of Mario Chalmers forced extra time against Memphis in the final.

Davis covered eight Jayhawks trips to the last four, six bowl games in football and thousands of football and regular seasonal football games. Many spent them with Max Falkestien, their predecessor and then their colleague and close friend, who spent 60 years transmitting to the Jayhawks before his retirement. Falkestien died in 2019.
Ex Kansas and North Carolina Coach Roy Williams described Davis as a “giant” at Kansas University.

“Bob Davis was a fantastic announcer and loved Ku,” said Williams. “He was a new coach, and he helped me immensely. He established the bar for all those I worked with later. He is a Ku giant.”

Davis also called the Final Four for CBS six times, and spent 16 years calling Kansas City Royals Radio and television games. He was voted as Kansas SportsCaster 14 times.
Avis survives his son, Steven, his daughter -in -law Katie and four grandchildren.
