The neighbor observed Suzanne “trying to get away from Mr. Simpson while trying to withdraw it down.” The neighbor also observed Brad chasing his wife and trying to grab her, according to documents. Later, the neighbor heard shouts from the wooded area in front of his house.

The next day, the surveillance images of several places around San Antonio allegedly captured Brad driving their truck with garbage bags, a heavy -duty garbage boat, an ice chest and a “large bulky article wrapped and insured in a blue canvas” that was supported by a wood shelf on the back. When the safety images later that day captured Brad at a service station, the white garbage bags were no longer visible in their truck.
Apparently it was seen buying two cement bags, a construction cube, a box of heavy duty garbage, spray disinfectant of chlorox and insect repellent with cash in a nearby home. Later that day, after picking up his daughter from the school, he was seen washing his truck.

On October 8, Brad exchanged text messages with his former friend and commercial partner, James “Val” Cotter, who is also accused in the case.

“If you are on a flag, can you transport me to my house?” Simpson supposedly sent a text message. “I don’t have much time.”
In a text message after Brad, Cotter wrote: “Put here! I will not tell anyone” and “You are my brother.”
Cotter was accused of manipulating evidence with the intention of affecting an investigation and possession of prohibited weapons in Suzanne’s disappearance. He published bail in November 2024.

The authorities arrested Brad Simpson on October 9, 2024 and Cotter on October 21, 2024. The next day, the investigators found a burning place at ground level with a burned laptop and multiple cellular devices in Simpson’s property in flag county. They also registered their truck and identified spots that proved “presumitively positive for blood”, which were tested and determined that it was Brad’s blood.

In December, the Criminal District of the County of Bexar, Joe Gonzales, announced through the press release that Simpson had “hidden” a “reciprocal saw” two days after the disappearance of his wife, and the authorities informed the family members that their DNA had been identified in the mountains.
