The K-Pop Group of South Korea, Newjaans, has announced that a break from all activities are being taken, after a court failed against them In his ongoing dispute with his record label ador.
The five pieces, which have tried to change NJZ’s name, announced during a show at Complexcon Hong Kong on Sunday that “this will be our last performance for a while”, after debuting their new song Pit Stop.
Friday’s court ruling prohibited the group from organizing their own appearances, making music or signing advertising agreements during their dispute with adorn.
Newjaans seeks to cut the ties with adorn after accusing them of abuse, and have said that they will challenge the court ruling.
The group has been involved in a long dispute with its record label since August 2024, when Hybe, the Matrix of Ador, supposedly forced the Newjaans mentor, Min Hee-Jin.
The band issued an ultimatum that demanded that MIN be restored and, when Hybe refused, he became public with a series of complaints against the label, including the statement that he had deliberately undermine his careers.
One of the group members, Hanni, also claimed that She suffered harassment in the workplace While working with the label.
At a press conference in November, Newjaans announced its company departure, saying that Hybe and Ador had lost the right to represent them as artists.
The Seoul court ruled that Newjaans’ claims did not “prove that adorned violated his significant duty as part of his contract,” added that the music label had confirmed “most of their duty, including payment.”
The Court’s decision prevents the band from carrying out independent activities, which means that it will face difficulties in changing the name of its new name, NJZ, without facing severe financial sanctions for breach of contract.
The Hong Kong concert on Sunday night marked the group’s first public appearance from the ruling.
After debuting their new song, the five members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Heyin turned to read a letter addressed to their fans in English and Korean.
“This stage means a lot to us and each of you that gives us strength with just being here,” said Hanni and Dani.
“It is really difficult for us to say this, but this could be our last performance for a while. Out of respect for the Court’s decision, we have decided to stop all our activities for now.
“It was not an easy decision,” they added, “but we believe that this is something we must do at this time.”
The group also said that the decision was “about protecting us so that we can become even stronger.”
“We had to talk to protect the values in which we believe, and that was an choice from which we did not regret at all,” they added.
“We surely believe that defending our dignity, our rights and everything that we care about is something we had to do, and that the belief will not change.”
The speech ended a one -hour set in front of a crowd of more than 11,000 fans in Asiaworld Expo Arena, the largest live music place in Hong Kong.
The group served under its new NJZ name, in apparent challenge to the decision of last week.
In a statement on Monday, he adorned that “he regrets the decision of the members to proceed with a performance under a name that is not Newjaans, despite the court order and its unilateral announcement of a suspension of activities.”
“Ador is totally committed to supporting Newjaans, according to the terms of our legally valid exclusive contract,” they added. “We hope to meet with artists as soon as possible to discuss the way to follow.”
The Newjaans are considered one of the newest bright bands in K-Pop, and were the eighth act of the world in 2023.
