The family of A student from the University of Missouri Who died during a trip to Nashville has filed a lawsuit for unfair death against his old fraternity and commitment of brothers almost a year after his death.
Riley Strain, 22, was found dead in the Cumberland River almost two weeks after it disappeared from one night in Nashville on March 8, 2024.
The demand, presented by the tension family on March 21 in Boone County, Missouri, He is against the University of Missouri of Delta Chi, since his family is working to hold his fraternity for his death.

“After Riley was abandoned, but before his death, he experienced conscious pain and suffering,” says the demand. “As a direct and immediate result of the negligence of the defendants, Riley suffered serious injuries, which finally resulted in his death on March 22, 2024”.
The demand added that the tension suffered “extreme physical and emotional damage, and pain and suffering before his death.”
The tension even initially refused to attend Nashville’s annual formal trip in 2024, according to the demand, but decided to attend “after the continuous pressure of his brothers of the fraternity.”
The demand for 36 pages lists 32 people, including the presidents of the Delta Chi chapter, recruitment presidents and numerous fraternity leaders and brothers.

The CEPA family argues that the Delta Chi fraternity and its members were negligent to take the appropriate precautions to ensure that all members of the fraternity were safe and could not intervene When the tension was visibly affected.
The presentation continues to accuse the fraternity of multiple negligent acts, including not having adequate security measures for the event, which allows excessive drink in charter buses that transported the fraternity to Nashville, despite fraternity policies that should have prohibited such behavior and the absence of chaperones or advisors, among other accusations.
According to the demand, several members of the fraternity noticed that the tension showed unusual behavior, pointing out that he fought to speak, walk and interact with others.
The tension was described as “practically incoherent” when the group reached the last bar of the night and was seen “supported against the walls to stay vertically, trip up and down, and could not speak or communicate, and needed help,” according to the demand.

“When a bar threw Riley, Riley’s fraternity brothers had two options: 1) Go with Riley, be sure to be safe and take care of it; or 2) Continue partying. The brothers Delta Chi de Riley decided to continue partying,” said the demand.
The lawsuit continued and declared that after the tension was expelled from the bar, it was lost and without help and stumbled in the wrong direction to the Cumberland River, four minutes walk from the bar in which his fraternity brothers had seen him last.
“Instead of having the support of his brothers, Riley was abandoned and only,” said the complaint.
The demand continued and states that Strain’s roommates saw “that Riley was not in the room and did nothing.”
“There was no search, or panic, and no one called 911 to report that Riley had not been able to do the walk of twelve (12) minutes back to the hotel in more than three hours. The brothers of the fraternity did not even think about calling Riley’s parents, they simply prepared for bed and went to sleep,” said the demand.

Straver’s family is looking for a jury trial, in addition to seeking damage to medical, funeral and burial expenses, and compensation for his pain and suffering before his death.
Approximately two weeks after the tension disappeared, on March 22, a worker from a company based on the Cumberland River reported having seen a body to the police, which could then confirm Strain’s identity.

A forensic doctor determined that the blood alcohol level was .228, more than double the legal limit, when he died, and also had Delta 9 in his system, according to the toxicology report previously reviewed by Fox News Digital.
In addition to the high alcohol content, evidence of caffeine, nicotine and marijuana in the strain blood was found.
The causes of the death of tension were listed as drowning and ethanol poisoning, and their death form was considered accidental.
