De la Hoya: Ortiz Jr. vs. Spence at the Cowboys stadium?

The promoter Oscar de la Hoya says he wants to put together a fight between Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Errol Spence for the Cowboys stadium in Arlington, Texas. De la Hoya feels that the two combatants will sell the 80,000 seats stadium.

Oscar points out that Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 kos) comes from consecutive exhausting fights against former ABA medium junior weight champion, Israil Madrimov, on February 22 and Serhii Bohachuk last October. He says that type of fights can be difficult for a fighter.

As such, De la Hoya wants Ortiz Jr. to return to Dallas for a welcome match against a contender of the 10 best and then point to a WBC and WBO champion of 154 pounds Sebastian Fundora and Terence Crawford if he returns to the weight class after his fight with Canelo Álvarez in 168.

Hoya did not say if he considers Spence (28-1, 22 kos) as a contender among the 10 best for Vergil Jr. to fight for his return home in Dallas. That would be a great fight for fans to prepare for an opportunity for the title against Fundora or Crawford.
