Five conclusions of the United States military meeting filtered

Washington DC is still digesting an apparent security violation in the heart of the Trump administration.

It is the story of how a journalist, Jeffrey Goldberg of Atlantic magazine, added to a signal platform courier group that apparently included Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, in addition to the national security advisor Mike Waltz.

The theme discussed was to attack the Hutí group backed by Iran in Yemen.

Goldberg said he had seen military plans classified for strikes, including packages of weapons, objectives and time, two hours before the bombs hit.

What are the main revelations in a few words?

In military action, the account called JD Vance wrote: “I think we are making an error.”

The vice president said that addressing the huti forces that are attacking vessels in the Suez channel attends to European interests rather than the US, because Europe has more trade that crosses the channel.

Vance added that his boss may not be aware of how American action could help Europe.

“I am not sure that the president is aware of how inconsistent this is with his message in Europe at this time,” said Vance. “There is a greater risk that we see a moderate to severe increase in oil prices.”

The vice president continued to say that, according to Goldberg, he would support consensus, but he would prefer to delay it in a month.

Goldberg reported in his article that JD Vance spokesman had sent him a statement that stressed that Trump and Vance had had “subsequent conversations on this matter and are completely agreement.”

Since he came to power, Trump has punished his NATO European allies, urged them to increase defense expense and, in general, insisted that Europe needs to assume responsibility for protecting their own interests.

The arguments about why the United States could, and should, carry out the military strike against the Hutis did not influence Vance.

He told the Secretary of Defense: “If you think we should do it, let’s go. I hate rescuing Europe again.”

Hegseth corresponded:

“I completely share your hatred of European free cargo. It’s pathetic.”

A group member, only identified as “SM” suggested that after the strike, the United States should “make Egypt and Europe clear what we expect in return.”

“If Europe does not remunerate, what?” asked.

“If the United States successfully restores the freedom of navigation at great cost, there must be a greater economic gain in return,” continues the user.

According to Goldberg, the United States National Security Chief recorded three emojis after the strike: “A fist, an American flag and a fire.”

The special envoy of the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, replied with five emojis, Goldberg said: “Two practical propagations, a flexed biceps and two American flags.”

The Secretary of State Frame Rubio and the Chief of Cabinet of the White House, Susie Wiles, expressed messages of support, he said.

“I will say a prayer for victory,” Vance said when updates on strikes were given.

Two other members added prayer emojis, Goldberg reported.

To Vance’s concerns that the action can be seen as against Trump’s message about Europe, the United States Secretary of Defense wrote:

“VP: I understand your concerns, and fully support you with potus (Trump). Important considerations, most of which are difficult to know how they develop (economy, peace of Ukraine, Gaza, etc.).

“I think the messages will be difficult, whatever happens, nobody knows who the hutis are, so we would have to keep us focused on: 1) Falling driving and 2) will be financed.”

The Trump administration has constantly blamed Joe Biden for being too indulgent with Iran.

Goldberg said he received an invitation not requested on the signal messaging platform on March 11 by an account called Michael Waltz, and then added to the group chat about Yemen two days later.

The president was not part of this group, but Trump’s closest collaborators were.

Initially, Goldberg thought this was a hoax, but soon realized that it was real.

The whole problem is to add pressure on the national security advisor, with the Democrats in the Chamber and the Senate asking for urgent investigation.

When asked on Monday, especially the incident, Trump said he knew nothing, but that he has stayed with Waltz.

The Secretary of Defense also said that secrets were not revealed.

“No one was sending text messages to war plans,” he told reporters.
