The victim was initially taken to the emergency room of the Vineyard Hospital de Martha’s Vineyard, and then transported by the Boston Medflight helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital in critical condition.
The victim died six days later.
The arrest report indicates that Cotton first told the officers who replied that she and the children had had a relatively normal morning during which he tried to take them to walk, but discarded the idea and took the children home when one of them did not cooperate.
She said she took the children to her house, where they played with toys and lunch, and explained that shortly after noon, she began loading her vehicle with a hockey team and changed the children’s diapers in the process, before putting them in the vehicle.

Cotton, who was described as “cooperative,” he told the police that the children were alone in the car for no more than 15 minutes, and that he called the police around 1:15 pm because one of the children seemed “sick and sick.”
Shortly after, the police obtained a domestic nest chamber with Cotton’s permission, which contained surveillance images from outside the house.
That image told a completely different story.
Police said around 9:15 am, you could see cotton entering the entrance path in their Chevrolet Tahoe 2021. It allegedly spent 10 minutes downloading articles from the car and bringing them inside, but none of the children was removed from the car.

Police said that a period of almost three hours passed without any activity in the nest images, before starting loading the SUV with the hockey team around noon. In the course of the next hour, he loaded the vehicle and briefly brought the youngest child, who survived, inside the house for about 10 minutes before returning to that child to the car.
It was then that he called 911 to inform the victim not to respond.
The next morning, the state soldiers brought cotton to interrogate, where he capitulated and told the officers that he left the children in the car for approximately three hours while cooking food, attended their personal hygiene, filled their son. Hockey equipment and completed other tasks.
