Russia has said that some western sanctions should be lifted before a high maritime fire with Ukraine begins.
A few hours after the United States announced that the two parties had agreed to stop the strikes in the Black Sea in separate agreements, the Kremlin said it would only take place once sanctions were raised to several Russian banks.
The demands include revoking sanctions to the State Agricultural Bank Rosselkhozbank and restore the access of companies to the Swift International Payment System.
During the night, Moscow launched a drone attack against the port city of Mykolaiv, Ukrainian officials said, and President Volodymyr Zelensky said the strikes were “a clear signal” that Russia did not want peace.
After the large -scale invasion of Russia of Ukraine, The EU and its allies suspended access to Swift for several Russian financial institutions.
The objective was for Russian companies to lose access to normal and snapshot transactions provided by Swift, which interrupted payments for their valuable energy and agricultural exports.
Reversing that decision would need EU approval, a step that would seem uncertain to the light of Recent European support statements for Kyiv.
On Tuesday, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, said Russia could be trying to delay the end of the war.
“I think Russia wants to see the end, but it could be that they are dragging their feet. I have done it over the years,” he said in an interview with Newsmax.
The United States announced the high sea fire after three days of peace conversations in Saudi Arabia.
However, Kyiv and Moscow then published contradictory statements about the details of the agreement, even when and how it would begin.
Zelensky said he believed that the agreement did not require a relief of sanctions to enter into force and would immediately go into force.
He called the Kremlin statement an attempt to “manipulate” the agreements.
After announcing the agreement on Tuesday, Washington said that all parties would continue to work towards a “lasting and lasting peace,” added that the agreement would open an important commercial route again.
Ukraine and Russia also promised to “develop measures” to implement a previously agreed prohibition of attacking the other’s energy infrastructure, said the White House.
The Black Sea is located south of Ukraine and west of Russia, and is also bordered by Romania, Bulgaria, Türkiye and Georgia.
It is also bordered by parts of Ukraine occupied by Russian, including Crimea.
It is a vital shipping route for Ukrainian exports, and after Russia withdrew from the Black Sea Grain initiative in 2023, he said he would see any ship destined for Ukraine as a possible military objective.
As a result, Ukraine grain exports fell.
