The election of President Donald Trump to direct the Food and Medicines Administration (FDA), professor at the Johns Hopkins Medical School Dr. Marty Makary, It was confirmed in the Senate on Tuesday.

During his audience, the nominated faced a scrutiny on a FDA vaccine meeting that was reportedly postponed at the last minute.
“Then, if confirmed, will you commit to reprogrammed immediately that the FDA Vaccine Advisory Committee meeting to obtain the opinions of experts?” Senator Patty Murray, D-Wash.Makary asked at that time.
He replied that “he would reassess what issues deserve a call from the members of the Advisory Committee in (vaccines and advisory committee of related biological products) and which may not require a call.”
When this answer was not good enough for Murray, Makary launched the question, telling him to face the Biden administration. “Well, you can ask the Biden administration that you chose not to call the committee meeting for the reinforcement of the Covid vaccine,” he said.

He referred to the Biden Administration in 2021 that pushed through the approval of the FDA for a COVID-19 reinforcement for all those over 18.
“The FDA did not celebrate a vaccine meeting and the advisory committee of related biological products on these actions,” a press release read at that time, “since the agency previously convened the committee for broad discussions about the use of the reinforcement doses of COVID-19 vaccines and, after review of the revision of PFIZER and modern members.

Makary has long been a critic of the administration that will now lead. He wrote An opinion article in 2021, calling For “a new leadership in the FDA to change culture in the agency and promote scientific advancement, not hinder it.”

“Now we have a generational opportunity in American medical care,” he said at his audience. “The approach of President Trump and Secretary Kennedy in healthy foods have galvanized a base movement in the United States. Child obesity is not a problem of willpower, and Alzheimer’s emergence of early onset is not a genetic cause. We should be, and we will address food as our health impacts.”
