As Lamar Odom’s disorders contributed to its overdose in 2015

In October 2015, NBA SuperStar Lamar Odom – Who was also known to the fans of the reality of television fans for his marriage Khoé Kardashian – It was found that Nevada did not respond in the brothel. Although the couple was stolen at the time, Kardashian remained with Odom through recovery from twelve strokes, six heart attacks, and liver and kidney damage supported him when he fought almost a fatal episode.

Odom, who said he began using drugs at the age of 12-in the year when his mother died of colon cancer-he was struggling to deal with parallel occurrence disorders: the use of addictive substances, sorrows, depression and anxiety. And in his memory of 2019, Darkness into the lightOdom also said he had a sexual addiction that also led him to use cocaine. “Especially with cocaine there is a high and then emotional minimum,” he wrote in the essay of the first person for Tribune In 2017. “So it’s like a roller coaster. You go high and then go low. High, low, tall, low. After you do it, you feel shame. Think about all the reasons you shouldn’t have done. Then the cycle begins again.”

Loss, sorrow and anxiety

The loss of his mother, Cathy MercerOnly 12 was a wound that Odom had no tools for processing or treatment to deal with them – just tried to continue his life raised by his grandmother. His father “wasn’t really around,” he wrote in Tribune … “But my mother was my best girlfriend in the world. She was so caring. My first memory in her life hears the sound of her voice… She was like the center of the universe in Jamaica, Queens.”

The loss of the mother at such a young age “leaves a mark on you,” Odom wrote. “I don’t care how strong you think you’re.”

The ongoing loss led to his first experience with cocaine. He was 24 years old and his grandmother died, followed by several other family members. On a summer holiday in Miami, when he offered a drug, he decided to take it. “When I made a coke, I felt good for a while,” Odom shared. “I stopped having so much anxiety. I didn’t think of pain. I didn’t think of death. So I did more and more.”

Only two years later, Odom was preparing for a party all night, when the mother of her six -month -old son Jayden called him and told him that the child would not wake up, that there was an ambulance and taking him to the hospital. Before Odom arrived, the doctors told him that his son was “away” and had no explanation of why. The case was set as a sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS,) and Odom was persecuted by the unconscious and injury in Jayden’s face.

“I think everything probably got up with drugs at that moment,” he wrote. “Even subconsciously. You don’t even know why you’re doing it at the moment.

In the essay he continued to note: “Do you think I did not feel shame? Do you think I was blind to what I was doing? Naked, I wasn’t blind. Shame … pain. It’s part of the cycle. My brain was broken.

Learning about his anxiety

Odom went into rehabilitation and more realized the reasons for abuse of the substance.

“In rehabilitation you will learn to undergo everything,” he wrote in Tribune essay. “I’ve always been a really anxious person. I have been more worried all my life. But I learn to relax everything. Or at least I try to teach.”

In A Nov. 12, 2024 Instagram reelOdom can be seen to talk to the group about his journey, something he said is useful in healing. “They don’t discriminate drugs,” he says. “No race, color, religion. I loved cocaine. Did you try it? Never … I never say it low. It’s like low. I’m fighting fighting … I’m a professional athlete, it really hurt me in the media, it cost me a few dollars like $ 30 million … It also hurt my pride.”

As he continues to work on solving common disorders he faces, he says his children with a former partner Liza Morales – Lamar, Jr., 23, and Destiny, 26, – have participated in rehabilitation therapeutic sessions in the past and there are reasons to continue. “I’m sober now,” he wrote Tribune. “But it’s a daily fight. I have an addiction. I will always have an addiction. It never disappears. I think I want to get high now. But I know I can’t be here if I want to be here for my children.”
