The Federal Communications Commission has alerted to Walt Disney Company and its ABC unit that will begin an investigation into the efforts of diversity, equity and inclusion in the media giant.
The FCC, the agency that regulates the media and telecommunications industry, said in a letter dated Friday that it wants to “ensure that Disney and ABC have not violated the regulations for equal employment opportunities of the FCC by promoting incident forms of discrimination by Dei.”
“We are reviewing the letter of the Federal Communications Commission, and we hope to get involved with the commission to answer your questions,” said a Disney spokesman for CNBC.
President of the FCC Brendan Carr, who was recently fixed by President Donald Trumpan investigation similar to Comcast and nbcuniversal in early February. The investigation occurs after Trump signed An executive order that seeks to end Dei’s practices in US corporations in January. The order requires that each federal agency “identify up to nine possible civil compliance research” among the companies that quote on the stock market, as well as non -profit and other institutions.
“For decades, Disney focused on producing box office and programming successes,” Carr wrote in the letter to CEO Bob when. “But then something changed. Disney has now been involved in controversy rounds that surround his policies ofi.”
An FCC spokesman did not comment beyond the letter.
