The first level promoter, Bob Arum, says that Gervonta Davis lost his fight against Lamont Roach on March 1, and needs to start taking the sport “oh really.” Arum feels that Tank (30-0-1, 28 kos) is trying boxing as if it were a “type of media thing”, and he “It seems ordinary.”
Tank may seem ordinary for Arum, but he is still the great money of the 135 years, and the one who hopes to match his fighters.
Bob says he has taken a good look at Tank Davis’s fights because he has seen him as an opponent potential for some of his fighters that promotes the best. He is probably talking about Keyshawn Davis, Raymond Muratalla and Abdullah Mason. Those are the three types that Arum has in 135 that they are active. Vasily Lomachenko is injured, and Arum does not know if he will resume his career.
Arum asks if Tank can win the rematch with Roach because he doesn’t know if he can change. He does not come out and says it, but Tank has fought against the same influence of his entire career. His power has rescued him in fights against Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, Ryan García and Mario Barrios.
Davis was retained to a controversial 12 round draw against Roach, and is lucky that the referee, Steve Willis, did not score it as a fall in the ninth round when Tank knelt. The referee let him slide and said nothing about Davis calling his own waiting time and walking back to his corner to clean the fat of his eyes.
“I thought Roach won the fight. It was a closed fight,” said Bob Arum for Sean Zittel About the crash of Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach earlier this month on March 1. “I think Davis has to start taking boxing seriously. It’s not just a kind of media things. It seems a bit ordinary. I don’t know if he’s able to change,” Arum said when he was asked if Tank Davis will win the rematch with Roach.
“I wanted to see it well because it has been mentioned as a possible opponent for the fighters I promote,” Arum about Gervonta said.
Tank could go to retirement shortly after he collects two or three days of payment. The rematch with Roach is almost safe, but then there is a possible fight against Jake Paul. That would bring a fortune for the tank. A rematch is also likely with Ryan García before retiring.
Gervonta is not going to fight Keyshawn Davis. With luck, Arum does not have that fight occurs because there is zero possibilities of that. Keyshawn does not have the fans base so that Tank is interested in fighting him.
