Vice President JD Vance And the second Lady Usha will visit Greenland on Friday, an island of less than 60,000 people who has become the center of the foreign policy of President Donald Trump.
The Vances are visiting the base of the Pituffik space force, where they will receive an informative session on Arctic security problems and meet with the members of the US service.
“The vice president and the second lady are embarking on a historical expedition with his visit to Greenland, where the vice president will emphasize the importance of strengthening artistic security in places like Pituffik Space Base,” said a senior official of the White House. “Unfortunately, Danish leaders have spent decades mistreating the people of Greenland, treating them as second -class citizens and allowing infrastructure on the island to fall into poor condition. Wait that the vice president also emphasizes these points.”
Usha Vance was originally scheduled to travel To Greenland Without the vice president on a cultural trip to see a dog slope race. However, earlier this week, the vice president chose to join, and the trip was changed to focus on national security.

Vance is the highest rank official who has ever traveled to the north as Pituffik, said the White House.
Vance’s first trip abroad to Paris and Germany waves for his difficult talk about Europe, which froze over the relationship of the United States with some nations, but precipitated a mobilization of funds in Europe For your own defense.

“I see it from the point of view of security, we have to be there,” Trump added.
Greenland depends largely on the well -being of Denmark, which currently contributes about half of its annual budget, promoting around $ 700 million per year.
In January, in response to Trump’s declared ambitions, Denmark announced that it would spend another $ 2 billion to reinforce defenses on the island.

The Trump administration has hung billions so that Greenland invests in the development of its natural resources: rare earth minerals and petroleum and gas reserves.
However, Greenland mining has proven notoriously difficult since 80% of the island is covered with an ice sheet.
The Prime Minister of Greenland, Mute Egede, earlier this week, called the next Vance visit “very aggressive US pressure against the community of Greenland” and asked the European leaders to face.

Trump established the space force in 2019 as a way of defending against the invasion of the interests of the United States in the earth’s orbit. In recent years, China and Russia have intensified their Arctic presence, investing in Rompehielos, new nuclear submarines and rare earth minerals.
