Florida Marine Park investigated for animal welfare concerns

Police and wildlife officials of the United States have raided a marine park in Florida after the accusations of “animal abuse” on the site.

Four dolphins have died at the Gulf World Marine Park in Panama City Beach last year, according to local media.

Animal rights activists have recently published images of drones that appear to show dolphins swimming in murky green tanks in the facilities.

Florida’s attorney general James Uthmeier said “would not tolerate any animal abuse.” The BBC has contacted the owners of The Dolphin Company park to comment.

The Florida Law Application Department and the Florida Fishing and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) executed a search warrant at Ushmeier’s request, he said in publication on social networks.

The order occurs after the dolphin company apparently prevented FWC Rangers from trying to verify the animals, local media reported.

The reports say that three dolphins died in the park in October.

According to the reports, a room died earlier this month after hitting his head at the shallow end of a pool while performing tricks for an audience.

According to the website of the Dolphins Company, the species held in the park include bottle nose, dolphins of rough teeth, marine lions, penguins, port seals, birds and reptiles.

Urganseas, an animal welfare organization, has expressed concern about the park.

“We have been documenting and publishing videos of the distressing conditions of the Golf World and we will continue until these animals are urgently rescued,” said Urgagentes director, Phil Demers, to the BBC.

“My concern is that these animals will be forced to remain in place as the conditions continue to deteriorate,” he said.
