“I feel there is a lot of pressure on Norman because it is already being treated as if I were not a champion,” said coach Greg Hackett in YSM sports media About the Welter weight champion of the Ombo Brian Norman Jr. having pressure on him in his first defense of the title against Derrieck Cuevas.

Brian Norman Jr. knows that he must look good, but knows that he is not yet known. He has to act because many fans only know him of his last fight against Giovani Santillan. Before that fight, Norman Jr. was unknown with casual boxing fans. He has not helped his situation outside the ring for 10 months since that great victory.

I should have returned much earlier and fought against anyone. I know that he wasted a lot of time trying to get a unification match with the Welter Welter champion of the Fib Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, but Top Rank should have rescued before when it was clear that the money was not there to make that fight happen.

“He is the main event under Mikalea Mayer, and the fights not in his hometown,” Hackett said. “I should have had a fight in Atlanta. He has to leave and act. He not only has to win. He has to look good because people want to see fights (getting involved) with boots and neighborhoods with the WBC. People want to see who is the main one in that kind of weight.”

It is a madness that Brian Norman Jr. does not head his own card in the south or anywhere, is caught in the mikaela Mayer vs. billboard. Sandy Ryan 2 in Las Vegas. That looks bad. Keyshawn Davis was able to lead his own card in his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia, while he was still a contender. Why is the top rak doing that for Norman JR?

It doesn’t matter that Keyshawn has fought at the 2020 Olympic Games. He didn’t win the gold. Andy Cruz de Cuba hit him. Norman Jr. should receive the same red carpet treatment for the best range as Davis.

“We have a new cast of boys. Who is the man? He is (Norman Jr.) one of the guys holding the belts,” said Hachett. “So, we have to see. That’s why I say there is a little pressure. I think Norman will do it quite well. When I saw him in Atlanta, he was in good shape. I imagine that he is in good shape. I think he will do what he should do.

“I feel quite bad for the child who is not being held in Atlanta where he is,” said Hackett about Norman Jr. having to go to the road for his first defense and fight on the billboard of a female fight instead of leading.
