Taliban launches arrested the American citizen Faye Hall

The former Washington envoy to Kabul says that an American citizen has been released by the Taliban government after being held for two months.

Zalmay Khalilzad, who served as the special representative of the United States for Afghanistan of 2018-2021, said on the social media platform X that Faye Hall “will soon go home” after the Taliban arrested them in February.

Mrs. Hall, who is now in the care of Qatar officials, was arrested with a British couple from the seventies, Barbie and Peter Reynolds, and her interpreter.

The couple directed training programs for women and girls, and stayed when the Taliban returned to power. Afghan officials have not raised their arrest audience.

In his announcement, Mr. Khalilzad thanked Qatar, who acts as a mediator between the United States and Afghanistan.

The United States Department of State did not immediately respond to a request for comments.

Mrs. Hall is the fourth American citizen published by the Taliban since January after Qatar negotiated an agreement with them. Only a few days before, they released another American, George Glezmann.

At that time, the Government said that the airline mechanic was released by “humanitarian lands” and that the decision was a “gesture of goodwill.”

These decisions also occur after US officials were housed in the Afghan capital Kabul.

Those were the highest level direct conversations between the two countries since the inauguration of President Trump, although the policy plans of the new US administration for the Taliban and Afghanistan are still not clear.

When he was the last in power, Trump negotiated the end of the US war in the Taliban by accepting a deadline of 14 months to withdraw US troops and allied forces.

The agreement was criticized, since it omitted the Afghan government backed by the West and democratically elected, which was quickly overthrown by the Taliban forces during the disastrous withdrawal of the United States in 2021.

Trump has blamed his predecessor, Joe Biden, for chaotic exit, which included a bombing at Kabul airport. The attack killed at least 170 Afghan civilians and 13 American soldiers.

The hosts of Mrs. Hall, Barbie and Peter Reynolds remain in detention. The couple met at the University of Bath, married in Kabul in 1970 and has administered educational programs in the region for years.

When the Taliban returned to power in 2021, They were among the few Westerners who decided to stay.

His daughter, Sarah Entwistle, told the Sunday Times: “They said they couldn’t leave when Afghans were in their necessity.”

She said her parents were “meticulous to keep the rules even when they kept changing.”

Mrs. Hall was arrested while traveling with the couple to her house in the central province of Bamyan.

Mrs. ENTWISTLE has said that her 79 -year -old father suffers serious medical problems while she is imprisoned, including chest infection, eye infections and digestive problems. She has claimed that he has also been beaten since she was arrested.

“Our desperate attraction with the Taliban is to release them home, where they have the medication they need to survive,” he told The Sunday Times.
