An alleged co -founder of Online computer pirates movement Anonymous has been arrested after a data violation of 2021 aimed at the Texas Republican Party.
Aubrey Cottle, a 37 -year -old Canadian NationalIt is known professionally as “Kirtaner.”
The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) accused Cottle of hacking the Texas Republican Party web server and stealing confidential data in 2021.
Cottle was arrested in Canada on Wednesday, and the authorities are chasing additional charges under the Canadian law, the Department of Justice said.
In TexasCottle faces “illegally transfer, possessing or using a means of identification with the intention of compromising, helping or abet, or in relation to illegal activity under state or federal law,” according to a press release.

Cottle uses his LinkedIn profile to describe himself as a “dirty but good Blackhat.” The same page shows Cottle as one of the founders of Anonymous, a group of decentralized computer pirates with the aim of violating government institutions in protest.
“Yes, that,” Cottle wrote. “Hal Turner, Scientology, Guy Fawkes Masks, you have it. Really. Google.”
According to a press release from the United States interim prosecutor, Margaret Leachman, for the west district of Texas, Cottle obtained unauthorized access to a third -party accommodation company called “Epik” before disfiguring the website of the Texas Republican Party.
“Texas: Take voices of women to promote the theocratic erosion of the church/state barriers,” said anonymous rewriting of the site’s destination page. The website banner was replaced by cartoon characters, a pornographic image and a music video.

The same launch alleges that Cottle stole a backup of the website server that contains personal identification information. The stolen data were published online for public discharge. Prosecutors added Cottle even boasted of violation on social networks.
Cottle’s biography of Tiktok’s page says “that type of anonymous founding hacker that you probably saw in the news or vice or sight.”

According to the Department of Justice, the Filtration of the Texas Republican Party was discovered in a search in Cottle Personal Electronic Devices.

The founder of Givendgo, Jacob Wells, spoke with Fox News Digital at the time of rape.
“This is illegal, and these people should go to jail. The FBI, I mean, it is surprising that we have not had news of any research service. We will communicate ourselves to see that there is some investigation into this. This is completely unacceptable,” Wells said.

The FBI Austin Cyber Task Force is investigating the case of Cottle, and the assistant prosecutor of the United States, G. Karthik Srinivasan, is processing the case. If it is convicted, Cottle faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
The United States Prosecutor’s Office for the West District of Texas did not immediately respond to the request for Fox News Digital comments.
