Denis Arndt, the actor nominated for the Tony award whose many screen roles included “Swat” and famous Questioning Sharon Stone In “Basic Instinct” he has died. He was 86 years old.
Arndt died “peacefully in his bed” at his long -standing cabin house in Ashland, Oregon, on Tuesday, his family announced In an obituary Posted on Wednesday.
“In his own way, Dad lived his life as a complete and generous performance, known for his incredible ingenuity, charm, rebel spirit, irreverence, sense of humor, harangue and passion for his art,” wrote Arndt’s family.
“His legacy, both on and off the stage, will live in the hearts of the family, friends and community members,” they continued. “He was lovely, handsome, present at the time, spontaneous and magnetic, a true Renaissance man.”

Arndt was born in Issaquah, Washington, on February 23, 1939, which his family said it was the same year that the classic film “The Wizard of Oz” was released and pioneered in the use of Technicolor in the cinema.

“That was like Dad’s life,” his family wrote. “It started in black and white and became a life of color, brilliance, daring adventure and passion.”
Arndt served as a helicopter pilot of the US Army. Uu. In the Vietnam War and received a purple heart twice. After leaving the army, Arndt flew helicopters in Alaska before moving to Seattle, where he released his career as an actor after a friend convinced him to audition in a local theater.
“Of course, Dad obtained the main role,” his family wrote. “And it was brilliant. He brought his brilliance, passion and dedication to his second career as an actor, both on stage and on the screen.”
Arndt’s family said “spent several seasons at Oregon Shakespeare Festival” in Ashland before embarking on a Hollywood race.

The actor made his debut on the screen on the 1974 television movie “Runaway on Rogue River” and his early television career included invited appearances in “The Wonder Years”, “Murder, She Write” and “Life on”.
Arndt played the husband of Mary Tyler Moore’s Titular character in the television series “Annie McGuare” from 1988 to 1989. From 1990 to 1991, he had a recurring role in the “Law” by David E. Kelly. Kelley would then broadcast Arndt in several of his other legal dramas, including “Picket Fences”, “Ally McBeal”, “The Practice” and “Legal Boston.”

One of Arndt’s first film roles was in the 1992 erotic thriller “Instinct Basic”. He portrayed Lieutenant Phillip Walker, one of the researchers who interrogated the character of Sharon Stone, Catherine Tramell, in one of the most emblematic scenes of the film.

He appeared in the 1995 drama “how to make an American quilt” and the 2001 sports drama “indisputable.”
In 2003, Arndt starred as Sgt. Howard in “Swat”, The Action Thriller Movie based on the series of the 70s of the same name.

In addition to his appearances in Kelley’s television programs, Arndt’s subsequent television work included invited papers in “Gray Anatomy” “CSI: Investigation of the crime scene”, “disappeared”, “supernatural” and “the good fight”.

Arndt’s latest screen included an guest appearance of 2018 in the television show “How To Get Away With Murder” and a paper in the 2023 “The Do-Over” short film.

In his obituary, Arndt’s family wrote that “he arrived at the pinnacle of his career” when he received a Tony Award Nomination for his performance in Broadway’s work “Heisenberg” in 2017.
Arndt’s family said they would celebrate a private funeral service for the actor, adding “instead of flowers, I would ask you to go to life for the balls and follow your passion.”

“As the final curtain falls, we say goodbye to our father, knowing that he has earned an ovation standing for the remarkable life he led,” concluded the obituary.

Arndt is survived by his wife for 45 years, Magee Downey, his seven children and “many grandchildren, great -grandchildren and great -great -grandchildren,” as well as his niece.
