Colonel Senator says that the Democratic brand is “really problematic”

“I agree that the brand of the Democratic Party is really problematic … It is a brand associated with New York and California, it is associated with the elite educated in this country and no longer with workers in this country,” Bennet told the host Kristen Welker.

Welker asked Bennet if he agreed with the statement of the governor of California Gavin Newsom that the mark of the Democratic Party is “toxic.” Newsom made the burning comments about “Real Time with Bill Maher” on Friday, and implied that the party had stopped making “sense.”

Bennet said his party lost contact with working class people.

Bennet seemed to agree with the governor of California, leveling the harsh criticism in his shared party for losing contact with everyday voters. The Colorado Senator said the Democrats must present a “convincing vision” for the future of the country, and that the fact of not doing so was responsible for the two non -consecutive victories of the White House of President Donald Trump.

“The Democratic Party has lost contact with workers in our country at a time when fifty years of drip economy has meant that most Americans feel that, regardless of how much they work, their children are not going to live a better life than the life they led,” Bennet said.

Bennet’s comments occurred when the Democratic Party besiege internal struggles on the future direction of the party. The minority leader of the senator, Chuck Schumer, has been criticized for voting with the Republicans in a continuous resolution to avoid a government closure.

Schumer has faced calls to give up his leadership position, and Bennet has previously stated that “it is important that leaders know when it is time to go.” The senator, however, reduced the question when Welker asked if he still has “confidence” in the leader of the Democratic Senate. Schumer has resisted calls to give up and promised to remain in his leadership role.

“Look, I’m not renouncing. I knew that when I cast my vote against the closure of the government, there would be a lot of controversy,” Schumer said in a previous week “Meet The Press.”

Bennet said the Democrats have been “repudiated nationwide” and need to spend their time in the political desert with bold political agendas to recover the confidence of voters.

“If the Democratic Party appeared with some imagination, we would not only do better, but the American people would do better,” he said.
