A mother and her two young daughters were killed In Brooklyn On Saturday, when a woman who was driving with a supposedly suspended license cut them at a crosswalk in what Mayor Eric Adams called a “tragedy of Shakespeare’s proportion.”
New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said that during a press conference the accident occurred just after the 1 PM in the Midwood neighborhood of the New York city district.
“I’ll call it as it is,” said Tisch. “This was a horrible tragedy caused by someone who should not have been on the road.”
The driver, identified as Miriam Yarimi, 32, allegedly crashed his Audi in a Toyota Camry Take a shared travel driver and another mother with three children, before hitting the 35 -year -old mother and her three children at the pedestrian crossing, Tisch said. The Audi then overturned.

He 35 -year -old mother And his two daughters, 6 and 8, were declared dead. The third son of the mother, a 4 -year -old boy, was taken to the Maimonides Medical Center and remains in a critical condition.
The 62 -year -old shared travel driver was taken to the Rabey Island hospital and is in stable condition. His passengers, a mother and three children, were taken to the Kings County Hospital with minor injuries.
Yarimi was taken from his car by the fire department and was taken to the Nyu Langone hospital in Brooklyn, according to the officials. She is in stable conditions.
“At this point in the investigation, the light sequence at the intersection has not yet been determined,” Tisch said. “The speed may certainly have been a factor, and researchers are working to determine if (Yarimi) may have gone through a red light.”

Adams described the incident as “a tragic accident of Shakespeare’s proportion.”
“This is extremely worrying and painful, not only for New York City in general, but specifically to a very united community,” Adams said during a press conference. “A mother who was going to take a simple walk on a sunny day was beaten and killed. While we prayed for their families, this whole community (Y) the city cries this loss.”
