Scott Disick he knows first hand the dangers of substance abuse after several rehabs and is now determined to provide his son Mason he does not follow in his footsteps.

Mason, 15, is the oldest of the three children he shares with his ex Kourtney Kardashian. The former couple, who split in 2015, are also parents to daughter Penelope, 12, and son Reign, 10.

Disick, 41, appeared in the first episode Khloe Kardashianis”Khloe in Wonderland” podcast on Wednesday, Jan. 8, where he shared that he had those tough conversations with Mason.

“The truth is, I explained to Mason how. drinking affected me and how bad it put me in certain places,” he said. “I talk to him about it all the time.

Disick’s ups and downs have been public since he first came out Keeping Up with the Kardashians in 2007. He and Kourtney dated from 2006 to 2015, with his substance abuse being a point of tension throughout their relationship.

They broke up shortly after both of Disick’s parents died, with another trauma compounding the issue. He first checked into rehab in 2014 and then returned several times in 2015 and again in 2020.

When Khloe praised Disick for being honest with his son, Disick added that he will treat Mason like any other child when it comes to alcohol.

“For a while he thought I was going to treat him differently because of it,” Disick said of his history of substance abuse. And I said, ‘I’m not treating you differently because of my mistakes or the way I’ve lived. But if I see you have a problem with alcohol, I will take action. But other than that, you’re just like any other kid. You try to drink when you try to drink, but if I see a problem that could be hereditary, then I jump on it. But until then, they treat you like any other child.'”

Khloe also speculated that Disick going through the worst of his problems in the public eye could help prevent Mason from making the same mistakes.

“Maybe if he sees your eccentricity, like the times in Miami and stuff, maybe it would stop him from drinking because he’ll see how…” she suggested.

“(He’ll say:) ‘Wow, like my dad was a real d— then,'” Disick joked.

“But he also knows how incredible you are now,” Kardashian interjected. “So it’s not like you’re always like this.
