This is the most destructive fire in the history of Los Angeles County and it is still raging. 0% of the fires have been contained. 0%.
Winds blow up to 100 miles per hour. Breathing more and more life into hell. And more than 1,400 firefighters are fighting the fire on the front lines. And they haven’t slept. One says: “I’m living proof that you can stay awake for 96 hours.” But they are outmanned and outequipped.

The chief says she doesn’t have enough firefighters. Just a few months ago, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass cut funding to the fire department by about $20 million. And before that, the Los Angeles Fire Department sent its extra equipment to Ukraine. They could probably use some of that equipment now. And this is even worse. The fire hydrants are dry.
Why isn’t water coming out of fire hydrants? Los Angeles has It had two years of record rainfall and it hasn’t rained this much, year after year, since the 19th century. Well guess what?
All the rain just runs into the ocean. A decade ago, California voted to spend billions on water storage and reservoirs. Today, Governor Newsom has not finished building a single one.
