The first Apple TV+ made its original programming free to watch the first weekend of January. The streamer’s effort to attract potential new subscribers continues with its latest launch: it showcases one of its most popular series—Do not quitreturns for long awaited second season next week—free for a limited time on the Roku Channel.
according to The Hollywood ReporterRoku announced today that season one Do not quit Available on the Roku Channel until January 19th, it’s part of an “exclusive fan experience” (which sounds both sincere and a reference). Do not quit’s infamous, in-universe “musical dance experience”). The trade goes on to note that “in addition to the first season, Roku Channel will get a preview of the second season of the thriller starring Adam Scott, as well as behind-the-scenes content. Users will also get three months of Apple TV+ for free.” (No further details were given on the “three free months” offer, but presumably becoming a paid subscriber will be part of it.)
Season 1 release Do not quit On the Roku Channel and having it directly from the platform’s home screen really makes a lot of sense; As THR points out, Roku has a huge reach with 90 million users and is “one of the largest free streaming video platforms on the market.” according to IndieWire report As of March 2024, Apple isn’t sharing TV+ subscriber numbers, though outside estimates are closer to 25 million. (Netflix, by contrast, had more than 260 million at the time of the IndieWire article.)
