More often, Star Wars it’s about salvation. Darth Vader saves Luke. Ben Solo helps Rey. The Mandalorian It gives up its code for Grogu. Characters who were once evil in the list and below become good. Still the latest Star Wars to show Skeleton Squad, we have seen the opposite. Jod Na Wood (Jude Law) has gone from a sleazy hero to a fully-fledged villain throughout the series, and now that it’s coming to an end, we’re left wondering what happens next.
Obviously your guess is as good as ours here. We haven’t seen the final episode yet, and we won’t until everyone has seen it next Tuesday, January 14th at 9:00 PM EST. So don’t worry about spoilers. We’re just wondering if he’ll keep the show’s top A-list star as the bad guy, or if there’s a chance he won’t be.
As a quick reminder, the four kids who make up the crew met Jod in prison and he used the Force to help them escape. He then became their de facto guide and leader as they attempted to return to their home planet of At-Attin. However, Jod, known by almost every character on the show by a different name, was mostly tagged along rather than out of affection. He wanted to see if the legends were true. If At-Atti really has a great treasure on him.
So Cod led the crew into the galaxy, piecing together the clues and politely avoiding any information about himself. We know he’s Force-sensitive. We think he was telling the truth about being lost and alone. He was definitely a pirate captain before he made a few mistakes. But when it became clear that At-Atti was some kind of treasure, the switch went off. The antihero immediately became the selfish, evil pirate we met in the first scene of the series. And, at the end of the penultimate seventh episodehe took more than that, killing his former first mate Brutus and brandishing a lightsaber to threaten the children. and their parents and finally discovered At-Atti’s treasure.
In our opinion, Skeleton Crew He took so much care to show that Jod fully embraced his pirate side, it would almost be a betrayal for him to come back. At least in it this season. Maybe by the end of this season, he’s on the run, and in a hypothetical next season, we’ll see him learn the error of his ways. Anakin Skywalker, of course, is back after famously killing some kids – Jod is pretty tame in the grand scheme of things. Sure, he chopped off SM-33’s head, but he wouldn’t go on the cute alien mouse that called his head home! If that transition were to happen now, it would be a huge disappointment if he immediately reverted to that path this season.
Jod’s arc was one of the true highlights of the show, creating emotional tension between her and the four children she claims to save. Let’s keep it that way. Make the star of your show the bad guy. We don’t care. We love it. If Skeleton Crew maybe hoping to go down as the second best Disney+ Star Wars If you show up to date, he should play it and keep him alive on that dark side for a while longer.
