Dora the Explorer provided some much-needed comic relief during the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers’ Wild card playoff game.

The Saturday, January 11 game was simulcast on CBS and Nickelodeon, with the animated character serving as an analyst alongside SpongeBob and Patrick from the hit children’s show. SpongeBob SquarePants.

After the Chargers forced a fumble in the first quarter to get possession of the ball, Dora couldn’t resist and took a sneaky dig at the Texans.

“Did you see the defender?” Dora appeared sayreferring to the safety of chargers Derwin James Jr. “I mean point guard neither.’

Swiper, one of Dora’s on-screen crazies, chimed in, adding: “That’s the way she pulls!” (In particular, the animated explorer tells the fox, “Swiper, no swipe” whenever he tries to steal something.)

The NFL shared the footage on its TikTok page with the caption: “She didn’t hold back 💀‘, inspiring many comments on social media about her shady antics.

“Dora dissing it,” one user wrote, while another joked, “Dora dissing.” CJ Stroud.”

A third pointed out that Nickelodeon “does NFL games much better than usual.”

Dora stuck around the entire game, appearing here and there to define illegal possession and other terms for the (presumably younger) audience before bemoaning the score of the game.

“Who needs a map to find the end zone?” Dora joked, which she had previously said during the first quarter of the year Super Bowl 2024 featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

Nickelodeon has aired several NFL games, including the 2023 Christmas game – with a dedicated Taylor Swift camera as she cheered on her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Chiefs — and the latest championship game. In both games, Dora teamed up with Swiper and SpongeBob to explain the games and share scores with the audience.

Despite the Chargers forcing a fumble and a subsequent turnover early in Saturday’s game, the Texans rallied for a commanding 32-2 win. Team LA’s season is now officially over as the Texans advance to the divisional playoffs.

Besides the Texans, the Chiefs — who have a week bye during NFL Wild Card weekend after earning the No. 1 seed — are still in contention along with the Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens. The Pittsburgh Steelers also lost their game against the Ravens on Saturday, eliminating them from playoff contention.

All AFC teams are vying for a chance to represent the conference in February’s Super Bowl against the NFC playoff winner.

Super Bowl LIX takes place on Sunday, February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans and will feature halftime performance from Kendrick Lamar.
