Tesla is offering free Supercharge for the Model S

Tesla is trying to boost Model S sales before the end of the year, but it has a funny way of doing it.

After initially ditching the free lifetime Supercharging offer in 2018, the automaker is bringing it back later in the year for some Tesla Model S vehicles. It’s a gold-plated proposition, as Tesla has also raised the price of the Model S by $5,000.

The all-wheel-drive Model S version of the car now starts at $79,990, while Plaid Starting at $94,990.

Demand for expensive EVs has steadily declined over the years. Tesla doesn’t release delivery numbers for the Model S, though Electrek According to estimates, Tesla sold about 12,000-13,000 Model S EVs in the second quarter, down about 31-37% year-over-year. The blog also estimates that Tesla sold about 10,000 Model S and Model X units in the third quarter, an all-time low.

Please note that the free download is only available while you own the vehicle, meaning you cannot transfer the offer; and taxi, ride and delivery drivers are excluded from cashing out of these freebies.
