Video shows the moment when Olympic kitesurfer Bruno Lobo rescues a woman who seemed to be drowning in the sea.
The athlete was practicing with a new camera while kitesurfing off the coast of São Luís in Brazil when he heard someone scream.
Lobo, who is also an orthopedic doctor, helped the woman onto his back and used his kite to carry her to shore.
The woman appeared to meet friends on the shore and leave the beach. “I just did my duty” and was “in the right place at the right time,” Lobo said in a self-recorded video on Instagram.
The athlete said he wanted to take the opportunity to warn on social media that “the sea is really very dangerous” and “the tide can drag you out to sea.”
