Andi Dorfman Explains Why Her Newborn Daughter Is ‘Full Fed Fed’

Dorfman, 37, who gave birth to a child, her first, which she shares with her husband Blaine HartDec 20, 2024 On Thursday, January 9, she candidly explained her feeding routine through a series of Instagram stories.

The revelation that fans DMed her to find out if she was breastfeeding her baby, a first Bachelorette party described her situation.

“Well, first of all, my sister and I were both formula-fed babies. So I feel like it was kind of always part of my plan,” Dorfman said. “And then I was going to use the pump to feed her breast milk, so I knew how much she was getting.

Dorfman said her baby’s unexpected stay in the NICU, where Harper was formula-fed, changed her feeding plans.

“So I tried to pump at the hospital, but my milk wasn’t coming in yet,” Dorfman continued. “She actually did really well on formula so we brought a lot home from the hospital. When we got home I tried pumping a few times and my milk supply wasn’t finished yet.”

Dorfman continued, “So we just continued the formula.” And then a big wrench was thrown into the plans – as you know, in the end I had to do the surgery myself. So I feel like that kind of stopped the pumping as well.” The reality star was referring to her return to the hospital after being discharged after the birth of her child due to two hematomas, which are closed wounds from which pools of blood cannot drain, at the Cleveland Clinic.

Dorfman, who married Hart in Italy in May 2023, said she tried to pump “one or two more times” but was unable to produce any milk.

“The weird thing is that I’ve never had any pain,” Dorfman added. “I didn’t have any congestion, I didn’t have the side effects that people talk about when they stop pumping. I just kind of skipped it. I don’t know if it’s because my milk supply just never came in and wasn’t going to, or if I kind of missed an opportunity, or honestly, if it was just a plan that made its own plan. But we’re here.”

Dorfman added that Harper thrives as she approaches one month in the world. “I hope this story helps someone,” Dorfman said. “I don’t know why there is so much judgment and stigma when it comes to breastfeeding or formula feeding or not doing one or the other. But that’s my story. We’re sticking to it.”
