Moment when a man is saved from burning his house in Los Angeles

Retired firefighter Rich Snyder rescued a neighbor from his burning home as wildfires spread to the Pasadena street where he has lived for more than 30 years.

He told the BBC’s Helena Humphrey that he was working on his laptop at night when he saw a large fire through his window.

Snyder quickly evacuated his home and warned his neighbors, before staying to fight the fire with a garden hose.

With the help of a team of firefighters who were traveling through the area with a van full of fire retardant, they managed to contain the flames.

In the end, two houses on the street caught fire and another suffered roof damage.
