Facebook/Dalyce CurryRetired actress More Curry died in the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. She was 95.
“About an hour ago, the coroner confirmed that her remains were indeed found on the property. #RIPMOMMADEE 🕊️,” Curry’s great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelleyhe wrote via Facebook on Sunday, January 12. “We had a great run. She has impacted my life in so many ways. This loss is devastating.”
Curry has appeared in various films including The Ten Commandments, Lady Sings the Blues and most importantly, Blues Brothers. But she was best known to Curry’s family as Momma D.
When forest fires broke out Last week in Los Angeles, Kelley, who served as Curry’s housekeeper, shared on social media on Jan. 8 that her great-grandmother’s home in Altadena fire Eaton. She explained that they were unable to locate or contact Curry during that time.

“My grandmother’s house burned down, has anyone seen MOM DEE,” Kelley wrote via Facebook at that time. “We are looking for the third time at the shelter. Not here.”
The last time Kelley saw her great-grandmother was the day before the devastating Pacific Palisades fire first broke out. Kelley was later escorted by officials to what was left of Curry’s home.
“It was total devastation,” she told locals news station ABC 7. “Everything was gone except her blue Cadillac.
Kelley too shared footage destruction via their Facebook page. While on the property, Kelley called to see if Curry was anywhere in the wreckage.
On January 7, an extreme wind storm from Santa Ana gusts sparked fast-burning brush fires along Sunset Boulevard and Palisades Drive. Many drivers abandoned their vehicles to seek safety Los Angeles Times. The Eaton Fire also started that day. The cause of both fires is under investigation.

Currently, the Eaton Fire is 33 percent contained, while the Pacific Palisades Fire is only 14 percent contained. According to CNN24 people died as a result of the continuing fires. Governor of California Gavin Newsom he said “there are likely to be many more” deaths as people are still missing and search and rescue efforts are ongoing.
Former Australian child actor Rory Sykes also died in the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. He was 32 years old.
“It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of my beautiful son @Rorysykes in the Malibu fires yesterday. I am totally heartbroken,” mother Rory, author Shelley Sykeswrote via X on Thursday, January 9th. “(He was a British born Australian living in America, a wonderful son, a gift born on my and his grandmother’s birthday 29 July 92.”
