“They never told me anything. It’s actually not something I’ve ever questioned as an adult,” confided 35-year-old Riley during her Wednesday appearance on “Call Her Daddy” Podcast.. “I think it was the way it was. I don’t know, it just never occurred to me.”
riley’s mother Lisa Marie Presleymarried Jackson in 1994 after her breakup Danny Keough. (Lisa Marie and Danny – who were married from 1988 to 1994 — shared by Riley and late son Benjaminwho died by suicide at the age of 27 in 2020.)
“I can imagine my dad was really heartbroken and reading the news, and I’m sure — I’m just imagining it,” Riley said during Wednesday’s podcast. “I can imagine he told my mom all sorts of things that we didn’t know about.

Riley explained that Lisa Marie and Danny had made it clear that they “don’t fight around the kids”, so she was never privy to any private conversations.
“We knew nothing. We were not aware of any charges,” she continued. “We didn’t know. We had no awareness of that.”

“One thing I do know is that they loved each other and that their love for each other was genuine,” Riley said. “I was there and I remember it. Everything else I don’t know because I wasn’t there for that.’
Lisa Marie dealt with the charges against Jackson in his posthumous memoirs, From here to the Great Unknownto which Riley contributed before it was released in October 2024. (Lisa Marie died aged 54 in January 2023 of cardiac arrest.)

Call her dadAs the granddaughter of the deceased Elvis Presley, Daisy Jones & The Six the actress recalled that she had a crazy life growing up. Within two years Lisa Marie was married to Jackson, things “expanded”.
“I think when she saw Michael’s life, there were things that he had that she didn’t have,” Riley said on Wednesday’s podcast. “She didn’t have a plane or things like that at the time. Then she said, ‘Oh, I should have a plane and I should have this and that.'”
Riley compared the differences between her mother’s “simple” marriage to her father Danny and her relationship with Michael.
“She didn’t have 10 million assistants at home.” She didn’t need all that (with Danny),” Riley said. “I think that has changed.
