Jay-Z’s lawyer presents presentation refuting rape allegations

Lawyer Alex Spiro shared a new perspective on how his client Jay-Z was responding to recent rape allegations against him.

“He’s pissed off,” Spiro, 41, said of Jay-Z, 55, during a press roundtable at Roc Nation’s New York offices on Monday, May 16. My Weekly attended “He’s angry that someone would be allowed to do that, he’d make a mockery of the system like that.” He is angry that this is a distraction and discourages real victims from coming forward.”

Spiro added that Jay-Z was also hurt by the way the allegations were made affected his familyincluding the wife Beyonce and their three children: Blue Ivy, 12, and twins Sir and Rumi, 8.

“He’s upset that his kids and his family have to deal with this,” Spiro continued. “He’s angry and he should be angry.

During Monday’s roundtable, Spiro began by stating that Jay-Z “did not rape a child” before giving a presentation that detailed the alleged holes in the accuser’s story. (The woman applied last week recognition of irregularities on his account, but he stood by his claims.)

This appeared earlier this month Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z were named in a civil suit where an anonymous woman, who has been referred to as Jane Doe, accused the two rappers of raping her in 2000 at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty when she was 13. The lawsuit was originally filed in October with only Diddy, 55, naming the paperwork.

Lawyer Tony Buzbee — who represents more than 100 people who claim to be victims of Diddy — re-filed the lawsuit on Dec. 8 to include Jay-Z. Both musicians have denied the “heinous” allegations, and the Roc Nation founder already has filed for appeal court case. Jay-Z has also repeatedly criticized Buzbee for his involvement in the case, and Spiro offered more criticism on Monday.

“This lawyer took advantage of that. That’s what it’s all about. And here you see now that it’s starting to unravel and the truth is coming out, it’s starting to come away from it,” Spiro claimed. “He says, ‘Oh, sorry.’ This case was referred to our firm by another firm, so I wasn’t really looking into it.”That’s pretty much what he said, isn’t it?”

He continued: “He makes an accusation like that, attacks a person with Mr. Carter’s integrity, and all he has to say to himself now is, ‘Well, I really didn’t check this. I got a referral to earn some money. So we just started living it.”

Spiro was seemingly referring to the statement Buzbee had made NBC news about the case after the plaintiff agreed to be interviewed.

“The Jane Doe case was referred to our firm by another who reviewed it before sending it to us,” Buzbee said Friday, Dec. 13. “Our client remains steadfastly adamant that what she stated is to the best of her memory. We will continue to investigate her claims and collect corroborating data to the extent that it exists. Because we interrogated her intensively, she even agreed to take a polygraph. I’ve never been approached by a client before.’

After Spiro’s roundtable, Buzbee refuted what he called the “baseless allegations,” which are detailed in the presentation.

“This client was registered and referred to our office by another law firm. This law firm drafted the original complaint,” he said Our in the statement. “However, four people in our firm also interviewed the client and reviewed the details after receiving the referral. A background check has been run on the client. We also engaged an experienced investigator to verify some of the details she revealed to us. These results were consistent with what the client told us.”

Buzbee continued: “We sent a letter to Mr. Carter’s attorney and offered to sit down to discuss the claims in confidence. Instead of accepting this offer, Mr. Spiro decided to file a public lawsuit accusing me personally of extortion. He claimed this knowing that we did not ask for money at all, and that in the public domain. The case is absolutely nonsensical. Further: At least three attorneys from our office interviewed the client prior to filing an amended complaint against Mr. Carter. The client also signed two separate affidavits. Our client remains steadfast in his claim. Mr. Spiro tries to be a bully. But we will not be bullied. Our behavior has been and will continue to be beyond reproach. In due course we will highlight some of the behavior of our adversaries, which is extremely worrying.”
