After 15 successful seasonsit’s time to talk about the end The Talk.
Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood are set to bid farewell to the long-running CBS series on Friday, December 20. However, ahead of the tapings of the final episode, the co-hosts look back on their memorable experience on daytime TV.
“We have and had such great chemistry,” Morales, 52, told the exclusive My Weekly before the series finale. “I think it always boils down to the team around you and the chemistry, and we all brought something so unique and different. I think everyone has such a unique background.”
Kloots, 42, joined the show in 2021 and is already asking for enough tissues to last her through the last week of filming.
“I feel like every day is going to be emotional,” she said Our. “I think they’ll alert us to the assembly every day.” Montages always get me. I think every day is going to be tough.”
Before their final goodbyes, Kloots and her co-hosts were able to chat Our and share some of his favorite memories of being on the set of the daytime talk show. They also showed what’s to come as they stay in the entertainment industry – and continue to group chat.
“These are friends forever,” declared O’Connell, 50. “I don’t think it’s over.” It’s funny when work ends because now you have to go out and make plans to see each other. But it will be funny to see the story we normally talk about at work. I’ll send it to you guys!”
For almost 13 years, 61-year-old Underwood brought her humor and perspective The Talk.
“We learned a lot from each other,” the comedian said Our before launching her comedy tour dates in 2025. “I see it as a big development. It’s time for us. Phenomenal journalist (Natalie), actor, father (Jerry). You are talking about a Broadway star (Amanda). Akbar, footballer. I will come in the second season. We came for our time. We did what we needed to do. Now for the big things God.”
Before she leaves the studio for good, Underwood joked that she’ll be borrowing some holiday decorations from the set.
“See that Christmas tree behind you? It will look like the ribs on the Flintstones car,” she joked. “I’m going to put it right on the roof of my car.
While the former NFL player loved creating memorable moments with special guests like Kelly Rowland, Steve Harvey and Montell JordanGbajabiamila, 45, will remember friends who made him a better host and co-worker.
“I’m going to miss watching Natalie and her professionalism and how she handles things,” he said American Ninja Warrior said the host Our. “He’s someone I’ve always watched and admired from afar. The friendship I have with Amanda. We’re the closest in chairs and you don’t have people like that in Los Angeles as such. Just this great person from the Midwest who is very relatable.’
Gbajabiamila called O’Connell a “cool cheerleader” and praised Underwood’s invaluable advice about “consistency” and “chemistry” on daytime television.
Morales is grateful The Talk allowed her to “let loose and have a little fun” when so many viewers were used to seeing her as “News Natalie.”
She’s also glad the show was a place where celebrity guests could visit and feel comfortable being themselves.
“Whenever people come here, they just love the opportunity to connect with us,” Morales explained. “Our guests have always appreciated that this is not a catchy show. This is not a show that is there to grab the headlines. We’re here to let them be free and have fun with us, and we have fun every day.”
Morales plans to continue working with CBS and is expected to appear more on 48 hours, CBS Morning and other programs.
Looking back at all the guests who appeared on ChatKloots can’t believe she met her childhood sweetheart.
“I loved when Mark McGrath she was at the show,” she said Our. “I had a picture of him in my planner in high school and I confessed to him on the air, ‘You were my high school crush!’ And also Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) when he was on our show. It’s so much fun meeting these people that I didn’t miss Saturday mornings in high school Saved By the Bell. The same with Tiffani Thiessen when she was here.”
Looking to the future, Kloots will continue to work in health and wellness and host Living on the other side with Tyler Henry on Netflix.
While O’Connell loved interviewing celebrities and chatting with his co-hosts, he wanted to give one special greeting The Talkwardrobe department.
“The clothes we wear are so cool,” he said Our. “When I go to lunch with my wife now, she’s going to be so disappointed because it’s going to be me and my ripped t-shirts and my dirty vans again.”
Looking ahead, O’Connell is excited to start taking playwriting classes. He will also continue to be a volleyball dad to his 15-year-old twin daughters Charlie and Dolly.
“It’s hard to keep my kids in volleyball. They don’t enjoy it anymore,” he said. “I only have teenage daughters who actually said yesterday, ‘We’re thinking about quitting.’ (And I said), ‘Well, what about the last four years of my life and me driving you everywhere?'”
Chat airs weekdays on CBS at 2:00 PM ET/1:00 PM PT, with the final episode scheduled for Friday, December 20.
