Hexa, the startup studio behind Aircall and Swan, is launching its next batch of startups

HexaThe Paris-based startup studio, which has launched dozens of B2B software companies, shares a list of its next projects that will soon become independent startups.

First the Hexa It started as eFounders in 2011A startup studio focused on B2B software-as-a-service products. Hexa usually comes up with ideas that will become the basis for new companies.

The Hexa team then tries to match the right building team with their new projects so they can make them their own. For about the first year, Hexa’s internal team helps founders with product design, go-to-market strategy, recruiting and fundraising.

When a startup raises its first round of funding, it usually becomes a properly independent company. In return for the investment and the first year of iteration, Hexa retains a 30% stake in the portfolio companies after this funding round.

While this may seem like a hefty fee, the Hexa’s track record speaks for itself. Over the years, Hexa has bred a handful of unicorns, e.g Front, Weather calland Spendeskas well as some promising tech startups that may soon become unicorns, e.g swan and YouSign.

And these companies also make a lot of money. According to Thibaud Elziere, co-founder and CEO of Hexa, at least five of the startups launched in the next two years to 2021 will generate between €100 million and €300 million in annual revenue.

Of course, some companies never got off the ground, but that’s how startups work. In total, Hexa launched 44 companies. The startup studio itself raised $22 million funding round In 2023.

While asking for Hexa morph Entering the home of entry-level accelerators where each accelerator is focused on one vertical direction in particular, the Hexa is a departure from this strategy.

The company is still slowly adding new verticals with new projects in healthcare, artificial intelligence and open source software. But you will no longer find a page on the Hexa website about 3founders for web3 startups or Logic Founders for fintech products. Now everything is a Hexa project.

Annette

Annette not B2B software company. If your body mass index is over 30 or you’ve been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, the company is focused on helping you lose weight.

Annette’s service is designed to complement GLP-1 drugs like Wegovy or Mounjaro with an app that allows you to track your progress as well as talk to nutritionists and medical professionals. The idea is to maximize long-term results with a technology-enhanced program.

basalt

basalt is a very 2024 startup. While everyone on LinkedIn is saying that operational engineers are the next big thing, Basalt is a tool that will be used every day by people writing instructions for large language models.

After you write your first tips, you can test them with multiple models, view the results, and improve your tips using AI. Given that AI is a fuzzy technology, a command that previously worked may stop working with a model update. So it can lead to reuse. Competes with basalt WorkflowAI.

DermaScan

DermaScan is another example of Hexa branching out and entering new industries. The startup’s name is very revealing, as DermaScan will help you regularly scan your skin for potential skin cancer.

It’s not just an app game; DermaScan plans to open care centers focused on skin examinations with some special technology. Given that it’s harder to get an appointment with a dermatologist than a magician, France seems like a good market for this startup.

FieldX (codename)

Smartphones have changed everything for field sales representatives. They can check their schedules, access product databases and process orders on the go.

Currently called FieldX, this new startup aims to help reps spend less time on admin tasks using a voice interface. Instead of switching between different apps, they can use this voice first assistant as a co-pilot.

LegalX (code name)

LegalX, another yet-to-be-named startup, is entering the crowded market of companies developing AI products for law firms. The largest law firms typically rely on a small army of interns to sift through thousands of pages, interpret documents, and draft drafts.

Large language models are a good way to extract information from large blocks of text (even if they occasionally create hallucinations). So it makes sense to build a product around artificial intelligence applied to these long legal documents.

OpenCertiX (codename)

If you’ve told your company that you want to subscribe to a product because it will improve your team’s work, the purchasing department will be asked right away. SOC 2 certificate. This usually means that the product is secure and handles data correctly.

It will be an open source alternative to SOC 2 compliance platforms like OpenCertiX He is proud or wired. As an open source product, OpenCertiX plans to offer more certificates beyond SOC 2.

Rivers

Rivers it’s a startup that offers products to other startups — and beyond. When you create a startup in France, you can open up some non-hybrid funding opportunities to help you get off the ground – think Crédit d’Impôts Recherche or the French Tech Stock Exchange. However, it can be difficult to know if your company meets the criteria for some industry grants.

Plus, putting together an app can be a time-consuming process with no guarantee that it will work. Reki helps you collect documents, create and submit your application so that it takes you hours, not days. And of course, the company uses artificial intelligence to automatically create the app.

SleepX (codename)

SleepX will offer a personalized sleep health program. Designed specifically for women struggling with insomnia, SleepX will combine Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) with information on hormonal, biological and psychological factors.

Details on what the product will look like are slim. But given the ubiquity of sleeping pill ads, the market opportunity is significant.

StandardX (codename)

StandardX is an AI startup focused on customer support over the phone. Many companies now allow you to report your problem so you don’t have to press 1, then 3, then 4 to get to the correct customer support department. But these voice recognition products don’t really change the overall experience for people on the line.

StandardX will likely use all the buzz AI technologies to think through these conversations – speech-to-text, LLM, and text-to-speech – along with ERP data. But we’ll have to wait to learn more about the product.

Tandem

Tandem is another customer support startup. But this time, it’s all about helping users set up their accounts and data while testing the new tool. Onboarding remains a hot topic among software startup founders.

That’s why Tandem plans to use artificial intelligence to make it easier to get started with personalized advice. As an advantage, the support team will receive fewer support tickets. has the potential to be Clippybut actually useful.
