Taylor Swift Reacts to ‘Heartbreaking’ LA Wildfires

Taylor Swift she has contributed to various causes to help individuals displaced by forest fires in Los Angeles.

“The California wildfires have destroyed so many families and it has been heartbreaking to see these stories unfold,” Swift, 35, wrote via Instagram Stories on Thursday, January 16. “So much suffering, loss and destruction. As so many people embark on the most challenging times of their lives, there are also many wonderful organizations and groups that have come together to help these communities rebuild.”

Swift also provided a list of non-profit organizations she sent gifts to including 211 LA, California Community Foundation Fund, Direct Relief, Habitat for Humanity, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, MusicCares and more.

A series of fires broke out in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of LA on January 7th and quickly spread to other surrounding areas. Fires ravaged thousands of acres of propertyincluding many owned by celebrities and other residents. In addition, many individuals fled their homes under mandatory or voluntary evacuation orders. According to NBC News, there were 25 deaths at the time of publication.

It is not known if Swift specifically was affected, although in addition to her homes in New York she also resides in Southern California, Watch Hill, Rhode Island and Nashville. Also a Grammy winner spends time in Kansas Citywhere is friend Travis Kelce he lives and plays for the Chiefs professional football team.

Swift has been in the spotlight for years known to return and support those in need. While on her Eras Tourshe also donated funds to local food banks in several cities where she performed.

“This will provide a weight equivalent to feeding 1,200 people three meals a day for three days – or 10,800 meals. That will be 2.5 weeks of what we normally distribute,” said the chief executive of Cardiff Foodbank Rachel Biggs he said The Guardian in June 2024. “The breathing space that Taylor’s gift has given us will allow us to lift our heads and shift our focus from a food bank to creating a sustainable operation supporting people who currently need our help with support to address the root cause of poverty and financial support, which will put them on the path to no longer needing our help.”
