Under Deck Down Under‘with Captain Jason Chambers opens up about a recent health scare.

In a video shared via Instagram on Monday, Dec. 16, the reality star revealed that a recent biopsy he had was confirmed as melanoma, a type of skin cancer.

“I’m in Australia and this happened in Bali,” Captain Jason, 52, explained in the video. “Here in Australia, the doctors weren’t happy with what the indications were telling them to go to phase 2, which would be to cut out more of it and test the glands.” So I’m waiting for the specimen to arrive from Bali so it will be here this week, but I might not get it until after Christmas.’

The Aussie star encouraged his countrymen to take extra care as the weather worsens over the next few months.

“Two out of three people suffer from melanoma. It’s a big deal. We’re going to have a heat wave this summer, so don’t forget to wear a hat,” he said, adding that he never wore sunscreen but now found chemical-free products. “Make sure you put on sunscreen, wear shade and cover up.”

Captain Jason added in the caption of his post: “For someone who has spent his life in the sun, from playing sports as a kid to working on the ocean, I thought I was immune to the harmful effects of the sun. I love the sun and the health benefits are obvious, but be wise and like everything in life it’s all about balance, pick your battles.”

“I now face an anxious wait with a melanoma biopsy diagnosed and what I thought was a skin blemish has changed in just 6 months, early detection is key,” he continued.

The post concluded: “So find a chemical-free sunscreen, get some shade with a hat, and enjoy the sun with protection.”

Captain Jason was at the helm Under Deck Down Underwhich aired on the Peacock, for two seasons. The third season has already been filmed.

“The third season has been filmed. All I know is that it’s in editing at the moment, but it’s been shot and I can confirm that,” Jason exclusively speaking My Weekly in September. “The most information that has come out so far is that it has been confirmed.

2nd season Under Deck Down Underwhich aired in 2023, they made headlines when the ship bosun Luke Jones he was filmed getting into bed naked with a flight attendant Margot Sissonwho at the time had passed out after the crew’s alcohol-fueled night. After the cameraman intervened, the producers made Luke leave the ship and he was moved to a hotel for the night. Jason finally ends Luke and leaves the flight attendant Laura Bileskaline to go after she blamed Margot for his departure.
